WWS Recertification:
2014

Bob Rosenbaum, PhD* 1st Set (1999) & 2nd Set (2009) Certified

I was in the first class of teachers trained in Dayan Qigong by Master Hui Liu in the lineage of Grandmaster Yang Meijun, and I am certified to teach both the first and second set. I have practiced Zen meditation for 40 years and received lay entrustmen from Sojun Mel Weitsman, abbot of Berkeley and San Francisco Zen Centers.

I also have 30 years experience as a neuropsychologist, psychotherapist, and behavioral medicine specialist. I was Chief Psychologist at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center; a Fulbright Professor at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences in India; and director of the doctoral training program at the California Institute of Integral Studies.

I introduced qigong practice to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center, where I developed numerous neuropsychological services as well as a mindfulness-based chronic pain management program and innovative approaches to brief psychotherapy. I am the author of numerous journal articles, book chapters, and the book Zen and the Heart of Psychotherapy. My latest book, Walking the Way: 81 Zen Encounters with the Tao Te Ching will be published by Wisdom Publications in Spring 2013.

Whenever I can, I spend several months a year hiking in the Sierras and trekking high in the Himalayas of India and Nepal. In March, 2013 I will be leading "Mountain Mind," a meditation and qigong retreat in the Everest region of Nepal: for more details go to www.zenqigong.com.
