PBS American Masters Documentary: The Life and Work of Tyrus Wong

Tyrus Wong was a Chinese-born American artist who excelled in fine arts as a painter, muralist, lithographer, designer, commercial artist, and kite maker. During much of his career, Tyrus worked for Disney and Warner Brothers Studios.

Director Pamela Tom spent almost twenty years working on an award-winning documentary film packed with interviews and insights about Tyrus Wong, that premiered in 2015, and just aired on KQED's American Masters series, this week.

Creating this documentary was a labor of love for all involved, and everyone was pleased that Tyrus lived long enough to enjoy the film in its entirety. He died on December 30, 2016 at age 106, fully embraced by all who knew him and finally recognized for his extraordinary, prolific body of work.
